We think that middle ear diseases are usually. correlated with nasal rcavities and nasopharyngeal diseases, such as septal deviation chronic hypertrophic rhinitis, chronic maxillary sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis, chronic , palatine tonsillitis, adenoid vegetation, acute and chronic pharyngitis etc. A clinical analysis was made of 1166 cases of middle ear diseases, which were inter-related with nasal cavities and nasopharyngeal problems in Ewha womans university hospital during the. period from Jan. 1972 to Dec. 1974.
The results of this study were as follows,
1) In middle ear diseases: There were 449 cases (38.41%) related to nasal cavities problems and 324 cases (27.78%) related to nasopharyngeal problems.
2) There were 341 cases (29.20%) who had nasal cavities problems and also had septal, deviations.
3) There were 189 cases (16.21%) who had nasopharyngeal problems and chronic palatine tonsillitis.
4) There were 192 cases (13.89%) that had more then two kinds of problems which are mentioned above.
5) There were 229 cases (19.64%) that were not related to the above mentioned diseases.
